That's a point that falls apart when your being compared to an equally talented artist who already knows Max/Maya. They will get the job. Max/Maya is free for students so there is no longer an entry barrier. You can be an idealist if you like but it wont put money in your pocket and food on your plate.
Hi i am a community college student really interested in character design and was wondering how good a pc I would need to work with high poly design on 3d Max and would I also need a drawing tablet to get into any advanced work? This is fucking amazing btw great work!!!!
Thanks man! A friend of mine brought up Gantz as a reference too. I will use it as inspiration. Unfortunately, my student internship is taking up a lot of my time and I have some smaller stuff to finish and learn before I get back to this character. Check my sketchbook for updates.
Awesome guy's! Great suggestions, Teejay you can take online courses at TAD, as I have had students from all over the world. If you know the website links to those you are suggesting that would be apprecaited, as I am having difficulty finding a few. Thanks again guy's! Spark
Thank you so much for these videos! As a college student, these tutorials have been a godsend! You explain everything perfectly and your tutorials have helped me learn more about hand painted textures. I love your videos and I cant wait till you release the premium ones!
Welcome to your final quarter of school this year, be sure to check out Polycount.com lots of good info and industry people there. ...Boards get slammed with new people.... Sometimes, it's more trouble than it's worth to go back and improve your past student work. In my opinion, you should work on brand new portfolio pieces from the ground up because I'm sure you've learned so much more since graduating from college. Keep workin' at it =)
I'm planning on getting it, since I make the "good student" pricing deal, which'll get me modo and the free upgrade for only 99 buckaroos. That, and I'm not sure if I want Lightwave 9 or not,I may just stick with 8 and use modo for modeling and LW if I need it for exporting to something.
If you choose to take the new job send me the contact info for your current employer to me. If not, send me the contact info for the job you're turning down. I'll pass that info onto the person at Guildhall who places students ... there are several level design graduates (current and future) looking for positions.
