Hey! So the models all look extremely soft, almost like they have melted or lava ran over them. I would recommend getting the hard edges down before moving on. Also I would lay off the use of Noise until later on
I usually select the vertex, grow selection, then use Detach component in vertex mode to split all connections. Then select them again and use weld vertices with a low threshold. It should work, but then you have to redo your soft/hard edges and sew UV's.
It's me again. Maya gives me hard time, it brokes like every 10 minutes and I kinda can't get the UI. I thinking about trying another soft. I like a look of Zbrush, is it viable for hard surfaces and enviroments or only sculpting?
If you want to reshape a lot of vertices at once, you can use Blender soft selection. Hit "o" on keyboard, this let you use it. For more info, please take a look on Blender documentation: http://download.blender.org/documentation/NaN_docs/Manual2.0/Pet.1.html
Thanks a ton for posting this man, I'm really liking it. Can't hear what's wrong with her voice, it's so soft and smooth. I always prefered the less shouty NiN tracks. It's cool how the style of singing and lyrics stay true to what Reznor does.
Just turn off shape dynamics that way it won't scale small as you progress through your stroke, I hate all that junk and have set up a custom soft and hard brush with no smoothing no shape dynamics, no pressure sensitive and always set to airbrush.
It looks like you're missing a lot of the variation of edge softness from the model, right now everything is boxy and all the edges are the same hardness. If you look at your ref more you'll see thats not the case, and some of them have a lot more curve.
The biggest problem I have here is the lighting, which looks awful for these shots. Much, much too bright. Throw a few flame torchs on the walls with burn marks behind them and a nice soft fire light casting shadow, and then we can talk :p
Well I personaly really like this overall "softness" of this model :) The colors are working REALLY well together and the design is awesome ! Oh well, I'm fanboy, I guess :D oh yeah I've ONE BIG CRITIC, though. You don't post enough !
I did a little modification on the face. This my favorite version of cloud. For hide layer yourself you can download psd there : http://sama.van.free.fr/divershelp/fuxer_Cloud_A_00.psd And usualy, I think squareEnix use a lot of soft colors, and there is rarely yellow highlight on characters.
