I find it helpful to stick a noise map in the gloss slot and make the settings so you get a solid colour (there a better way to do this btw? gradient ramp w/ one colour seems to not work right) so if you combine multiple materials with different gloss maps you could render off a combined gloss map by transferring that… -

Thanks Rick I think I saved it. I found, thank goodness for my old senile brain, I found a few backups of it as I progressed and had not overdarkened it. Make sure you set the bump material from "Bitmap" to "Normal Bump". So when you normally click the bump slot and pick "bitmap" and browse to your texture, click "Normal Bump" then click "normal" and then browse to your texture. Just sticking a normal map in the bump slot like you would a diffuse will cause 3ds to treat it… -

The thing w/ modeling creatures, is that well... there easy. sculpting a creature dosnt come with rules like suclpting a human or (somthing I find difficult) an apealing female human. Looks promising - I look forward to seeing the finished thing! One thing to mind out as well as the scale issues is the logistics of the scene - where is that cobbled road going? What's with the buildings on the right? I'd make the tunnel bigger w/ a continuation of the street beyond, and add another path to the other side…
