Use Pro Booleans, much cleaner, especially because it retopo's the more objects you add. Also use James Haywood's script "clean verts" to get rid of verts along straight edges. That should help clean things up to a workable level for high poly. http://jhaywood.com/maxScripts.htm

Small update, I was experimenting with ways of generating random slopes in Substance and doodled a fanned cobble path. Tiling 2x here and the height is exaggerated to show it off. Pretty happy with how it came out for a quick test run! If I have the time I might spend a bit making it a workable piece.

If anything it would have to be an eve style game, with the actual zone being much like 0 security space or even wormhole space, totally dangerous and equally awesome. Where the beginners areas would be startertowns just on the border of the zone and most beginners fetch quests would entail just barely touching on the zone.
