I sent these images in to a potential employer and they replied saying it wasn't bad, but it wasn't impressive either. If they were impressed, I'd be pretty skeptical considering I don't think they're particularly impressive either. But in the future, I want to make sure that they are impressed. Simon, all the screenshots you present come from the emulator right? So unless someone looks up what the original hardware was capable of, we don't know 100%. As you say it makes no sense if the depth-buffer was lower res. Maybe the emulator decided to visualize the depth-buffer in lower-res to make it pop out more? Maybe… -

Your set-up is very, very wrong. From the look of it, the point light is way above the room. Go to lightmapping, maps, clear maps. time to start again. Move the point light to inside the room and add a cube for a roof - IMPORTANT - make sure the cube is the colour you want the roof to be, usually the same as the walls.…
