It still remains as the black silhouette when i put a default shader. Messed around in the scene controls once you told me about the ao and shadows though, I unchecked enable exposure control in viewport and I could see my maps again! I reloaded my norm map though and it looks normal...no pun intended -

The original question was whether having two seperate materials, a transparent and an opaque for the full object is of much benefit to having a single transparent material. I meant use tiledshot, and set it to output 2x your intended resolution. Then downsize in an image editor, like Photoshop or XnView. The "antialiasing" you get from downsizing won't be as nice as native AA, but it should be decent, depending on the resampling filter you choose. Photoshop only has a couple filters, but… -

Yeah i only have 2 fingers on top. Ring and pinky are below where that hard edge. That is actually how it is intended to prevent the twisting.
