Isn't there a way to view the 3dsmax viewport for high poly models? I found some old plugin, but don't think it's worth it. I don't understand why there are no good VR 3d object viewers.
The pillars would form the back bone of this environment, so decided to start there. I made a base mesh in 3dsMax to establish the main shape, which I threw into mudbox to sculpt in the large surface details.
Why are you trying to render a realtime mesh with mentalRay? You should try to view it in DX view or a game engine. The flipped green channel is a mentalRay shader problem i think. At least in 3dsMax.
Cheers Striff, sorry for not mentioned it, yeah Marmoset is my tool of choice! The High poly was rendered from 3dsmax using Mental ray. Your display picture excites me. Love a good mullet.
Hey @OccultMonk Love your work on Artstation. Your work shows that 3DSMAX is still an amazing tool. Is you portfolio made by an "one man army" or is occultart a team of artists? Thank you, Gazu
that is crazy smart, totally like the concept :) maybe even adding some growing function where you can repeat the quad building by surface curvature approximation. +1 wanna see that in 3dsMax as script
There's an example script here: http://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2015/ENU/?guid=__files_GUID_CDE5B06D_4BB4_4DEA_96C1_6BAB98709F09_htm One thing I did make dynamic is the parent's rollout height. It changes when the subRollout is closed or opened.
Before the graphite modeling tools were incorporated into 3dsmax they were a separate script called polyboost which I think is still available for ancient versions of max. There might be a separate script available on scriptspot.
for real-time, yes, ogly is correct. Just make sure to disable the gamma in 3dsMax viewport when using it or the results will not look good. (the shader does a more suitable tone-map in the shader itself)
