As samnwck said, having a lower resolution hightmap will give you less details to work with. By the looks of it you're also using the 'cube' primitive, as opposed to the 'rounded cube' shown in the first example. The rounded cube mesh already has more geometry in it, so when tessellating you get a much higher resolution…
Substance Designer and Painter don't have anything to imagine height from regular image . Sampler does but it does it so awful it's almost an advertising gimmick IMO, very blurry unspecific height often totally wrong. The only thing Sampler good is de-lighting ambient shadows . What would really be helpful is image…

I'm trying to create accurately measured "snap-fit" assets but it is do difficult to duplicate and position assets, the grid snap doesn't work at all (constantly getting incorrect positions) and duplicating and rotating assets is a nightmare. Surely this isn't the way industry does it? Do I need to buy ProGrids 2.0? What…
I came across some threads in the Allegorithmic forum that seem to imply that all maps except the diffuse/base are converted into linear. Was this only for the 3D previewer in Substance alone? I attempted to change the output nodes to different types (say base versus roughness), and they still exported out the same way. So…

I got a quick question. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I'm following along on this SD tutorial. I'm at this part where he adds a comment and basically parents a bunch of nodes to that comment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&list=PLB0wXHrWAmCwLRTzdb-RxadGk_xBBQKar&v=y7z3w68EZH4#t=1793 My…
This is what happens on GPU Simulation While this is what happens on Normal Simulation The problem just started happening today. It worked yesterday and the days before that but now it seems it persists even on new projects. Please help. I'm tearing my hair out cause of this
That does makes sense. If i take the approach of my bottom pic, it will certainly work, however, I wonder if there is a better way of designing these pieces.
