I've just started to try to get into creating characters for video games. I just have a question about the beginning part of the workflow. Alot of people seem to suggest starting with a base mesh created in a program like Maya and then sending that over to ZBrush. Is there any reason why you would make the base mesh rather…
So Im trying to convert weapons from a game (steam workshop) to highpolys to edit them in zbrush. The problem is that the obj (which the dev provides) behaves very weird when I want to edit it. For instance the mesh has hard creases when I turbosmooth it, the cut tool is inaccurate and buggyy. When I tried to weld the…
Hi guys, Before I go on, I want to confess that I'm not a League player (I play Dota2 instead). But I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to practice my craft and see how far I can go. I decided to pick Akali. She is one of my friend's favourite champion. I then did a few quick thumbnail sketches based on different skin…
Martin7 (What happend to the other 6 Martins btw?) I see you already found a workable solution, there is also a guide on the WIKI on the subject - http://quixel.se/usermanual/quixelsuite/doku.php?id=inputmaps#curvature When the GPU baker is released (hopefully soon) this won´t be a problem anymore :)
Brilliant. Went with a temp transparent material. Works a treat. Had a read of the wiki too. Thanks so much everyone for the help. Through this thread I've gone from being utterly confused about workflow for game assets, to having a decent workable method. Educational. You guys rock!
I don't understand. Couldn't they just make a mouse emulator on the screen? That follows your finger movement on the page; you tap it to activate. Sure, this wont for some flash games (especially since would block the view). But for the most part, should allow basic flash workable on most pages.
Vig: same here, doubled its size to make it actually workable. I wish I could reclaim that space though, since I have an absolutely tiny monitor at home. Well, in terms of screensize. It being a crt, you can never really call it tiny, can you?
A tiny update! Made a workable topology for the face. She has quite an.. animated personality so I want to be sure the base topology works and won't cause any weird problems in the future. And a few expression tests. Works well enough, not sure if an extra loop to the eyelids would be useful or just make everything harder…

Yeah the second lighting setup has my vote. I'd even say try getting some more rim lights on the right side of the character to bring them out a little further, but that might also just be my own preference! If you haven't had a chance or are still playing around with some lighting setups, I really got a lot out of…
