Thanks for the feedback. I def don't want to go through 3 years of learning the ropes only to not be able to find a job, or to get stuck placing crates all day every day, particularly while getting paid less than I would in architecture for that ( how common is a position like that anyway?). This tank from the first link (Ben Bolton) is so nice, thanks for digging this up ! Reading up on it agin in his original thread , he is achieving this look by baking from very simple highs and then scaling down the resulting textures by a factor of 8 (from 2048 down to 256). Really inspiring work. -
Textures Resources for Retro Style Games?
What are the best places to get textures for your game assets? Does anybody use textures images from photos anymore or is it mostly substance painter and photogrammetry these days? What about retro style ps1 graphics? I miss when texture.com was free and now requires a subscription to get textures. -

I did some renders for today's deadline. The texturing is not finished, I still need to do more work on the gold parts, and add more wood details and maybe play around with roughness more, because at the moment it is too uniform for the whole model, and I want to see how it is going to look if I add more variations… -

well for my spare time stuff , optimisation is not 'too' much of a a concern. I think my korean scene has about 300 materials. But my current setup still handles it quite well after I did a bunch of tweaks on the settings. I do use renderman sometimes which is much slowers then cycles, so it will be nice to see how the new… -

In 3 weeks I will be moving out to Port Coquitlam, BC (just east of Vancouver) to begin working with the guys over @ Threewave Software. As some of you know on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week they flew me out for an in-person interview. When I came home I went on a 4 day camping trip... and came home with MY DREAM JOB!… -
