You seem to have the parts the arrows point to covered, though I would go with softer transitions there, a bit smoother corners, as in your reference. Other than that, I think noosence used the right approach. No need for such heavy chamfering, just a few control edges that are easier to ...well... control.
I'm seeking some feedback on the following images. This is my first foray in subdivision modeling, and while I'm fairly satisfied with the mesh topology I feel that there are probably more ideal methods to achieve the desired geometry. Would those with experience be willing to set a beginner on the right path? Thanks in…
Quickish tutorial on how to make some chainmail/chainlink to wrap around pipes and other objects. First step - Right click snaps toggle button and make these settings in the snaps and user grids tabs, when finished activate snaps... Second step - Go to the front viewport, then on the create panel, select helpers and…
Vaneir: I started with a square plane. I just extruded edges and moved verts. Once I got the shape roughed in, I made some cuts with split poly/edge loop tool and started adjusting it to fit the silhouette. I then deleted unnecessary verts to finalize the shape. I used insert edge loop to rough in the major control edges…
Hey Polygear. I Think your problem is that you're slightly misunderstanding how the shape actually works in real life. The "edge" portion of the blade seems to start on a double serration and you're trying to start it before that. In real life if you started an edge like that, you do get a tiered look in that curve like…
I'll have a good look at those and see if it helps, thanks. So far, my best attempt is the following: Does that look like it's heading in the right direction? I'll need to extrude the wing roots out somehow in a way that looks right, as well as make it taper downwards towards the rear, but it looks like it could be a…
Have the whole blockout done with plane extrusion, just having a hard time getting the shape of the cockpit glass just right. Understood. I thought it may have been a bad a approach since Jets are cylindrical and your not supposed to move verts on cylinders, or make them yourself from planes.
skyground, thank you, yes your exactly right. And a little PS levels as well. sasuki I could tell you in max but I dont know maya so well sorry, here is something I googled that might help http://vcell.ndsu.nodak.edu/~christjo/vcell/Tutorial/tutorial1.htm
Hey guys, could anyone give me some pointers on how to make the ridge on this surface? I cant get this right for the life of me. I should probably just model floaters and attach it after the fact, but I also suspect that this might be real simple and I'm just being an idiot.
Shear isn't exactly the tool I am looking for. I would still manually have to do each part. More like I am loking for something like setting a cursor, then clicking and blender would add curved faces. But if I recon right, there should be something like that, shouldn't it ?
