the rgb channels are already eroded differentially, i could maybe use different erosion algorithms for the different channels but i think i could harden the terrain based on the alpha channel at the moment the ersosion algo subtracts 1/3 of the difference between the pixel to the lower pixel and substracts it from the…
I was practicing making this wood table asset, I have the base geometry down although I'm kind of stuck because I have no idea how to use all sculpting part of the software, wasting time running circles on youtube. Can anyone suggest some good tutorial that slowly explains how it all works? (no timelapses) Or even just…
Thanks a lot, this is really helpful feedback. Out of curiosity, how do you subtract polys without wrecking the model? The example looks really well done in this respect, not to mention the textures completely changing the look entirely! Is there a specific way to substract the polys from the model? Looks really good, I…
@zylan Determining if a high poly mesh is acceptable really boils down to how closely the shapes in the model match the shapes in the references and whether or not the topology subdivides cleanly, without generating any noticeable smoothing artifacts or other surface quality issues. If the shapes and surface quality checks…
Hello. Was trying to check this out, and I keep getting an error when I use any of the lazerCut Cutters. Using Max 2016 https://vimeo.com/229410139 also from the listener: Key press count = 1 -- Error occurred in obj loop -- Frame: -- Boolean3: undefined -- obj: $PolyBox001 -- called in assignOperand() -- Frame: -- linker:…
Hi! Looking at the screenshot, I see that in the toolbar the tool is currently set to "Subtract" and you have "vertex selection masking" enabled. So currently you would only be able subtract weight from the vertices that are selected in edit mode.
ok...I have never used the the previous unreal engine(havent been in the 3d field very long. I'm only 18 but from what I can tell by looking at this photo, and watching some kids play unreal tournament at my school, all it has to offer is benefits. When I first started to learn UDK, subtractive brushes were fading away.…
Virtuosic: I know very well what BSPs are, and yes, I'm using them to shell out the basics of my levels. What I'm asking, to make it very clear, is what are the advantages/disadvantages to using meshes vs BSPs for shelling out the basics of your level? In UDK. With Unity for instance you make your whole level in your 3D…
Are you painting a subtraction instead of painting addition? Geodesic voxel is just the method to calculate the initial bind so you are still weighting a smooth bind. ( subtraction will adjust weights in other joints to equal the smooth bind. Remember a smooth bind is smooth because deformation is spread across multiple…
So I know that you can set a mesh as subtractive by pressing alt and then using your brush to bring it out.. but this is a bit lacking in precision. what i would like to be able to do is to use the insert mesh function in the geometry panel and somehow set the mesh to subtractive and then precisely place the mesh. anyone…
