I'm currently working on an environment based on a concept art I found on ArtStation to add to my portfolio. My goal is to achieve a similar stylized look to games like Overwatch. I came here looking for feedback since none of my friends who work in the industry are willing to give me brutaly honest criticism. Here's the…
At this point I'll maybe once every 2 weeks ask AI "What does this code do?" or to do brain dead text processing tasks like "rewrite this lengthy recipe to remove fluff", and I often use AI transcribed text, but not much else. Also, the AI added to UE5 is a dumb chatbot, you're better off using Google Gemini or ChatGPT.
Hi guys, I'm new to UE5, and I'm encountering an issue with AO maps. Here are my troubleshooting steps: I adjusted the AO inside the PPV, and added these scripts: 1. Ambient Occlusion - Post process fix: r.Lumen.DiffuseIndirect.SSAO 1r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.ShortRangeAO 0It works with overall AO of the scene but not the…
Hi there, first time making a thread here. If anybody wants to follow the progress in any other place feel free to check my Twitter and Tumblr: https://twitter.com/Wabbaboy http://wabbaboy.tumblr.com/ So, I'm a 3D artist living in Europe, I don't have professional experience but I worked in a couple of quite long student…
Hey guys, So ive been working on the game for around 1.5+ years so far and we are now on a point where it is somewhat presentable. When the Duchess' treasure has been stolen by the Jabberwockies, it's up to Alice and the White Rabbit to recover the…
Hello everyone, I wrote a quick article on some thoughts I had about providing constructive criticsm. Since we are in the media age, a lot of artwork is shared and a lot of feedback goes back and forth. I decided to elaborate on some experiences of mine, and provide some feedback that i'd thought i'd share in terms of…
Had some free time this weekend. The front view of the concept is my main reference, and I liked the shape of the backside from that view. However, trying to cajole the model to match that reference was a major pain in my backside. Ultimatly I decided sticking to the front view for the back of the weapon would result in a…
"Could you recomend me some book, course or something that you got useful in the past to improve this skills?" Not really. I recommend to investigate various aspects (topology, UVs) of work you enjoy, take notes and do small tests. Polycount wiki is worth a visit now and then too, to read up on stuff. Generally reading…
Update on: ~~ My Shadow ~~ I started working on some tillable textures for the walls and floor. I wanted to sculpt the wooden floor boards but I had loads of issues when duplicating the wooden panels. This is because they had such a high tris count (2,162,688 tris, oops). My computer would sit there processing what I've…
