First time using marmoset and watched tutorials for it. I am adding texture maps for eyes, which are made from two parts. And the outer lens should be transparent. In many tutorials I see people using transparency with "add". (Even in marmoset's own tutorials) I however don't have this option. I only have cutout or dither.…
A new video tutorial for aspiring concept artists. Ctrl+Paint has just added yet another video to their already great tutorial library, titled Observation to Imagination. Rather than focusing on technique, this video discusses the mental aspects of drawing and how improving your mindset from the start can lead to great…
I feel like there is something off with the bricks, they feel almost too uniform. What you could try is to give some of the bricks a different "height" in the normal map. Maybe try something like what Philip K has in one of his tutorials: http://www.philipk.net/tutorials/materials/tilesold/tilesold.html…
Might have better luck googling a different keyword other than 'vertex' animation. Try 'Sprite animation tutorial' - http://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-an-animated-pixel-art-sprite-in-adobe-photoshop--cms-20428 - http://www.manningkrull.com/pixel-art/walking.php…
Agreeing on what perna said, there are lots of tutorials about it out there. For example, on of the best if not the best free complete game art tutorial out there: http://cgi.tutsplus.com/tutorials/creating-a-next-gen-video-game-hot-rod-the-complete-workflow-part-1--cg-2103 All videos:…
Your baking resolution is pretty high. Try it with only 2 lightmap texels per unit. Otherwise your lightmap will be huge, which is not needed. https://unity3d.com/de/learn/tutorials/topics/graphics/introduction-lighting-and-rendering?playlist=17102 And check out the lightning optimization tutorial which is…
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=11006495&linkID=9241175 Scroll about 3/4 down and click the 'Materials and Mapping'. Download the PDF (or read it in the browser, whatever) and download the Supplementary Files . These are tutorials published by Autodesk, and I believe they are also the same…
There is a reason why tutorials are out there... so you follow and learn from them - not to look at them and do the opposite. why dont you see if you can follow the tutorial first and get the same result and then do something on your own after... all in all, I would suggest you should watch the tutorial as you personally…
My suggestion? Make small scenes. As said already, it's very difficult to get hired for props/weapons role. Most jobs I see are for Senior level and you're competing against a lot of other artists that can do more. Most junior/mid level positions I see open are for Environment/World art, doing small scenes gets you closer.…
I have generated a normal map from zbrush using this tutorial and am trying to apply it to my low poly model in 3ds Max using this tutorial. The file is a bitmap(.bmp). When I finish, the model in the viewport turns invisible. Is this a video card issue or am I doing something wrong? I am working with a laptop with the…
