@Gazu thanks @Mossbros thanks, that's a great idea. I am planning to make this low poly, so performance is somewhat of an issue, but since this is going to be "next-gen" whatever that means atm, I could probably afford some extra detail on the velcro. Maybe this method they used for the mossy rocks in "Ryse" could give…
If you cant find real references for this kind of armor then look at films and games, lord of the rings or ryse son of rome should give you something to use. heres a google search for elven armour, it looks similar.…
The moss could use a lot of work everywhere. Its being painted on the rocks using a texture sample that has 3 masks stored in its channels that I can switch by using and IF node. The masks are then being painted on the rocks with a vector up function, so there wont be moss growing in places it normally shouldn't. I've seen…
As a last thing for this update, if you wish to see more of our works, aim to our website or our facebook page. There you can also find assets made for Ryse: Son of Rome, League of Legends and other projects. For League of legends you can still preview images at this old thread started by a former colleague:…
So is there anything concrete that everyone expects to come out of this - e.g. "huzzah! Ryse engine feature XXXX will come to CryEngine, which was a real shortcoming of 3.4.x!"? Just asking because doing things that are necessary to make your product better - e.g. merging teams - doesn't strike me as something so very…
It's Civil War Season. And this polycount ain't big enough for the uhh... 7 of us. We've all been wanting to do a civil war for a long time, but shit keeps coming up. So we decided to just lump together into one giant battle of the gen's to settle the score once and for all! it's 'oldschool' diffuseheavy handpaintedness vs…
Still using my 2009 Comicon Challenge mesh which i've since made into an angel after not completing the contest challenge. Hi, I'm working on a fantasy/mythology character for my diorama and decided to make a separate thread here. My progress so far, I haven't decided on the outfit yet. any suggestions on this would be…
The another thing that you could try ( and I think it would work, and it wouldn't need any advanced technique) is the "Ryse moss technique" to give depth to the rainbow patterns. If you are using scanline, then you can use the raytrace material, so you could easily get actual reflections. Or alternatively you can still use…
Is the client looking for a technique to do rocks or this one rock? If it's a technique, how you go about creating your lowpoly isn't as important as how you create your texture and how you blend them. Since this is cryengine, look up how they did the moss in Ryse. There's a post here on polycount. If you decide to use…
