Yeah, it's one example of why I don't like these bills. I use dropbox all the time, and I don't use it to share files illegally. But if someone else does, SOPA/PIPA would allow someone to have dropbox shutdown.
Here Ace, this might clear things up for you... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJZaajaGI9U&feature=player_embedded"]SOPA: Silicon Valley vs. Hollywood in fight against online piracy act - YouTube[/ame] ...no wait. It won't do that at all.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJIuYgIvKsc"]Be a HERO and Help STOP SOPA Now!! I'll tell you How! This Video that Must Be SHARED! - YouTube[/ame] Guess I'll spread this as well, although it is just a game of "spot the hypocrite" instead of an actual solution and explanation of why SOPA is wrong. Another email from a big petition site. "In days, over 1 million of us worldwide signed a petition opposing a scandalous bill that would give the US government the right to shut down any website -- targeting sites like WikiLeaks, YouTube, even Avaaz! President Obama’s team responded, and Avaaz organized a 1 hour meeting…
When I was in Singapore (2001) I was at a mall and walked into an electronics store. It was filled with movies, pirated software, everything. I could literally buy windows xp and all the addons for 2.50! Adobe sweet for the same. It was insane. These places exist but not in mainstream AMERICA and that is what this bill is…
http://www.thejournal.ie/ireland-and-eu-to-sign-controversial-acta-treaty-tomorrow-336764-Jan2012/ This is getting really fucking pathetic now. Slipping this in under all the SOPA rage and not giving people time to react or debate. Literally getting signed tomorrow, so what the fuck can people do about it?

really there are easier ways just setup a 2nd layer of DNS servers that are outside of the US, just use Canadian or European servers. also something like tor (would just need to make sure the exit point is not in the states) would prolly bypass all the restrictions on SOPA, there is no lock that cant be broken and that is…
This isn't directly related, but it does deal with a lot of the same themes. Have any of you ever read Little Brother? I think it was written around 2006. It's YA science fiction (frighteningly close to fact) about a crackdown on personal liberties in the wake of another terrorist attack in San Fransisco. The main…
