Just gonna poke the bear a little bit... How many people have roms of NES/SNES/Genesis games on PSP's/R4's/PC's? Who has a Mame cabinet packed with roms? I thought average joes lost their jobs because: of crazy spending, pissing off the publisher, bad deals with publishers, bad planning (taking too long at times), not…
Everyone pirates games here. It's what youth does. It's how it's been since before I was old enough to even know what pirating is. I remember, when I was like 9 years old, my older brothers brought home one of them fancy golden CDs that a friend had burned for them, with Virtua Cop and Frogger 3D and some other…
Pretty much all of my friends pirate like 95% of all the games they ever play. "Screw those wealthy CEO's, why would i wanna support their third private jet for!?" is pretty much what they think justifies it all. Altho, average joe's actually lose jobs because of it. Damn it.... DAMN IT ALL TO HELL!
I don't have many friends who do that actually, most are very supportive of the biz and buy all their games legit, the rare ones that do aren't close friends and aren't worth the argument. The worst is the people I've known who work IN the games industry but also pirate games...just a total lack of respect for your fellow…
I don't know much about where to go for 'somewhat safe' pirating. Every time demonoid goes down I am left out to dry. I don't really play many games anymore. Software and maybe the occasional movie is my main thing I go after. Last PC game I played I bought. Titan Quest and then UT3 but really only for the editor.
Gonna play devil's advocate: I've said it before, Blizzard had it figured out way back when with diablo. Provide an excellent online service build around exciting multiplayer and suddenly piracy is simply free advertising. Make your game so amazing to play legit that you'd be a fool to settle for the pirated copy (heck…
My connection functions as an awesome piracy deterent as its so slow itd take about 30hours+ to get a game. I dont mind a little bit of piracy here and there but I think seeing friends who have money, pirate games... annoys the fuck out of me. I don't mind piracy when its used as a kind of trial/extended demo, but to…
I have pirated a large handful of games, but I have also purchased many games. I would say the time I have spent playing the pirated games, however, has been drastically less than the ones I bought. My beef about PC games is that you can't rent them (naturally), so I don't want to buy a game to see if I like it. I torrent…
I find better friends. Ones that aren't giant douche nozzles. If the game isn't worth buying, it isn't worth playing. Or they're simply too lazy to buy/rent/borrow it, or try the demo. It takes very little effort to borrow a game someone has finish, or trade in one you have recently finished, to save money on the next. In…
I just read through all the articles on TQ and IL and they seemed to have done a few things there that with hindsight, should have been nipped in the bud. Addressing and dealing with the source leak; deleting any and all forum posts referencing the bent copy; found a way for offer purchase options to those logging in with…
