Thanks for the answer. I will work on that. I also had issues with another form on this personal project. The cover for the particle filter has spokes that goes towards the middle. The spokes are welded together with circular forms/insets at regular intervals. On the bigger filter I started with the rim of the filter and…
If you don't want to have collapsing chamfers on inset geometry then the right way to go about it is to do it the other way around. Do all the insets first from a rectangle shape, then chamfer. This keeps everything evenly sized. Order of operations is a big deal when it comes to chamfering. Bonus tip: If you want variable…
Insets and extrusions on curved surfaces in subdivision modeling is notoriously hard to do because the support loops will break the equidistance and cause things like pinching. When doing a shape like this you are much better off getting the shape right, and then subdivide and do the inset last. From left to right.…
Heres a link for the fbx: https://rapidshare.com/files/3675931479/scifidoor.FBX I included 3 meshes. One base without the cut, one base with the cut, and the inset piece. Tonight I'm gonna give retopologizing the inset piece a go, I think I could simplify the bottom part, which is causing problems. Thanks so much for your…
I can help with this one! :D Start off by adding some text to your scene: Shift+A > Text Tab into Edit mode to change the text You will want to lower the resolution in the Text Properties panel, and you can change the font and other settings there: Hit Alt+C to convert the text to a mesh object: Tab into edit mode and use…
