When you can snatch the pebble from my hand, you will be ready... Uh ... MeshFusion and stamp the details on with Substance Painter? Probably how I'd approach it.
I would start with spherified cube. There is no reason to create it by hand. Also you already have lots of vertices. I would say too much for nailing down the main shape.
Anyone know how to get something similar to this net mesh? I could be wrong, but this might be a zbrush thing rather than hand modeling it. Artist: https://www.artstation.com/artist/david_edgrrr
I had a crack at that faucet for fun. I did it with just an 8 sided cylinder and subD. The intersection was just a bevel and some sliding of the verts to make a round shape, which i then extuded and then did a spherize/circularize on it to make it a perfect cylinder. When you use subD with that low level of sides it's…
Thanks for that pic Johnny, I just learned something very important. Thankyou again! Hey by the way bitmap. Would it be okay to use that screw on a personal project? On one hand I like to model everything, on the other hand, saving 15 minutes is always good. I think maybe we could setup a highpolygon 'junkyard' here on…
@iacdxb You're on the right track, just experiment with it. I would model it clean, UV it, then use a cloth sim or sculpt it by hand, or do a displacement map with a cloth height map for quick iterations.
To be clear, this thread is named incorrectly. It's really "the appropriate amount of geo for the task at hand". Could be more, could be less ... it's all context. But you SHOULD err on the side of less. It's easier in the long run.
Hi guys! I gotta model a G26 handgun for a school homework, and I'd definitly need some of your advices for that part: thanks! Should I bolean and then fix the topology? or hand make it?
I was specifically trying to figure out a faster process of getting it to that slanted angle and having the faces extruded. The next parts of the model are not what I'm concerned about, because I know how to make it work. I'm looking for a simpler process for when I set the angle and add the extrusion, because right now,…
Hello, @Mohamed_Salah_Bchi , I thought about it a lot, did some tests and i think the best/faster way to do it is, by hand place cubes for Boolean on a plane, make an inset then do your symmetry and shell it
