I wish them all luck I hear that a lot (sucks to be before xmas). Unfortunately, Christmas just falls at the end of a business cycle, so it ends up like that for companies every year. Of course, losing a job is always badly timed ;) Good luck to all in these coming days, since it is that time of year for layoffs.
I totally agree - ended up UV stacking all but one column of panels to save space and that definitely ended up limiting some things. There actually is some light dirt and soot on the panels but now that I look at it, I should had definitely aimed for a stronger and more noticeable gradient to make up for the lack of UV…
the robot - video game asset. done mainly with zbrush + 3dsmax. marvelous designer used for the clothing assets. houdini was used for the "noise layer" (inside cables). substance painter was used for textures. final asset ended up in UE5. hope you like it! thanks! https://youtu.be/jLPQ7XJ6G7o https://youtu.be/cLv8eOLZrkY…
awesome stuff bird! I was shocked to learn that the totoro was a 3d model it looks soooooo true to it with cell shading. I shouldve known after seeing Enko's kirby thread. The buffalo bill is really cool, I think maybe you could work on the ear skin a bit more, they dont seem to have that soft floppiness that goat ears…
I like the concept, but I think there is issue with the fire. The explosion looks a little blobby like lava, and I don't think fire comes out both ends at the same time. I may be wrong, but I think at the moment of contact the fire is only at the explosive pan and it has time to extinguish in the split seconds before the…
bizarre thing is I got my first job because of a custom website and not artstation. So in the end you really ought to do what you want and roll with the punches. As an artist you're not limited to what a studio thinks of you, given how some of them treat their employees they likely never respected you to begin with, its…
You spend a year playing these games, at the end what do you got? Nothing. Just time fizzled away that you will forget immediately. You spend a year working in 3d -- which is very much like a challenging game in itself -- and at the end of the year what do you got? Maybe a good job, or some art you can sell.
What? No love for the work I did on the track? ;) The Alps definitely shaped up fast towards the end of my contract. It was really great working on it and using the newer shader tech. All the work paid off in the end though, it's a gorgeous track. Nice job :) BTW Garage - what's your name? I assume you were in the bay with…
Awesome.. well I can't wait to see it / nervous it's going to put mine to shame. This is my first foray into doing an environment from scratch so it's definitely going to be a bumpy ride. The main is goal is to get comfortable with the ZBrush to Maya workflow and hopefully end up with a pretty still at the end. I'm glad…
..uuuh? ^ I feel sorry for the people involved for their time and effort that wont see the light of day but I'm sure it's going to be worth it in the end if we end up with a worthy WoW successor. I guess there goes my hopes of seeing anything Titan related on Blizzcon this year too :P had my fingers crossed that they'd…
