A sketchbook is also useful if one has long, BORING chemistry lectures. t4paN, drawing digitally is very fun, and leaves lots of room to experiment with, but don't talk smack about plain old pen/pencil sketches.
I really like how you used a colorful bg for that general. It really give a fresh look to 'plaster' renders of digital sculpts! Loving it. And great paintover too! Thats quality hybrid concept art right there.

just a couple rough sketches before i took it to digital so i knew what i wanted. not really focused on proportion it was leisure doodles. But more exploration just so i kept my mind on the design.
^ yeah spot on. Plus goes both ways, ask them too critique your work? never know might instil some motivation in one...two or maybe all extracting the digit, by eyeballing what you're doing.
