Works great for me. The yellowish glow makes for a nice focus / separation of foreground and background. The materials could maye be a bit more different regarding their glossiness, but that might be due to the lightmapping (are you using something for extra reflections, like a cubemap?). But even so, it's working fine.…
I may not be a big fan either or know that much about the guy without looking up a lot of it, but wow if you're going to draw conclusions and BBQ the recently departed you might want to so a little bit of reading... I believe he talked about that publicly a few times and admitted that life is messy and that it would be…
Yeah improving your own skill to the point you can match a professional level is the only way to do it. Right now I think you're portfolio pieces are not up to the bar, you don't have any visually stunning pieces. Why? You're stopping half-way calling it done. Heck, I'm no character artist , I just do 'em for fun but The…
[ QUOTE ] What's wings like when it comes to splitting loops of edges/bevelling/switching hard/soft edges? Is the workflow manageable? [/ QUOTE ] If I understood what you ment, then yes, extremly managable, just one button, or directly in the right click menu. Just try it, you will love it (check out the default shortcuts…

Thanks guys for interesting comments . it's of topic but last fall after years of polishing Designer fx maps and creating procedural approaches I suddenly found how actually better my work had been when it all was just manual, taste and intuition driven. Zbrush sculpts and coloring , hand painted textures I did in some…
Not much of a hand paint guru, but how many of those 4,999 tris have you thrown into that bench? Also the bench looks a bit small but that might just be me... Jeff is right about the dirt path, any way you could blend it in? Is this going to be in engine? If so get it in right away and put in lighting so you can balance…
What I noticed is that your separate objects look awesome, like the barrel and the ramp thingy. But in the scene all of it's detail goes missing. I'm not sure if it's the compression of those jpg images (they seem to use a really crappy compression? image seem fuzzy) or if it's the lighting, but I do miss that that awesome…
Really cool work and idea. The mood is great. I like that you didnt fall into the trap of putting blood anywhere. The lighting is also spot on. Criticism: The red light on his face helps to set a focal point but feels rather heavy handed. I'd like to see a version without the red light and his head beeing rather dark so it…
@Mik2121: Human proportions is something I've always had to work hard to get right. Every time I get a little better, thought! And the fact he's actually covered by that armor adds a little challenge to it. I think he's got big'ish head, it could be just a tad bit smaller. Another thing I've noticed is the face, it's just…
