Currently (I know it's WIP) i'd say that there's form repetition, and then there's form repetition... Your architectural elements are composed in a way that makes it difficult to understand the scene... looks like something Escher would have done in his early stages. Modularity success though... the pieces work for what…
@renderhjs Thank you for the new release! I've been testing the Rectify tool and it works great - however, I don't know if the intended behavior is that the island is deselected after being rectified? EDIT: hum, strange, now I can't reproduce it... EDIT 2: Still unable to reproduce it, will update if it happens again.
Thanks for the comments. I reworked the nose somewhat and I intend to make further changes to the head, but I wanted to crack on a bit so I've made a start on the body. Lots still wrong with it, but this is as far as I'll get tonight. Need sleep. (btw: ignore the neck. I've not combined my 2 subtools)
Just use enough triangles to make it look good at the angle and zoom you intend game players to view the asset at. LOL reminds me of this: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=lotr1 I was working on FarCry 2 when Boll mentioned in an interview that he was intending to make Far Cry into a good movie, and his previous efforts were intentionally crap. That did nothing to really subside our doubts. Neither did the trailer.
just be glad that he didn't plant his wang on the table - for size comparisons... nice models by the way, very "oldskool" texturing style that brings back memories however personally i would prefer to see the models presented somewhat smaller at their intended resolution. upscaled textures do not look that nice, imo.
Thanks everone. I will render out some wire frames and a few other views tonight. I do intend to rig him up, and I still need to add teeth and a tongue. aesir & dolemite: I agree with you guys... I didn't really notice it until you mentioned it. Matt
i like the idea of both nascar and ice hockey ... i say "idea" cos i've never seen either for real. Intended going to see some hockey when i'm over there in may, but the bloody NHL looks like it ends it's season in April. Are there any other leagues with longer or different seasons?
I will keep the rifle separated for now. That gives me a good chance to work on both rifle and trooper without stuff getting in the way. I intend to give the rifle a base layer that i bake. Then finish it up and attach it to the sculpture itself. After that i will sculpt in the final details and bake it as a whole…
Are you referring to the unreal version I posted? (the prior sheet had no spec map. The wood is intended to be polished, but i suppose i could add grunge all around the model. Right now I'm still trying to figure out a way to get the crystal to look shiny AND partially transparent in UE3
