Like all the others, I use Blender at home for personal project and or potential freelancing in the future. I'll only use AD apps if within a studio if I'm employed. Of course, I have the ever renewable Student License at home if I need to test some tools and such.:)
I recently heard back from CGSociety, and it turns out the first round of student works is due over the next few days, so hopefully we'll see some results from the classes. I'll let everyone know as soon as I find out more ^_^
If you can get a student copy of painter I highly recommend it!!! Much better for painting and rendering out paintings and drawings if you have a tablet. That is another thing that I find is a pain to get used to if you are used to a physical medium. The tablet is the demons seed sometimes.
As an obvious render target to help facilitate what a porfolio may look like, The Skillful Huntsman was an elucidating book to me about both approach and end results for these four Art Center students as they all tackled previs art for one specific Grimms Fairytale movie idea.
So? You can get new licenses. They just ask name of school for new downloads. You can list...lynda.com :\ and they'd still give you the download link. Actually, you can specify "mentor" out of the 3 options (student, faculty, mentor).
Hey, I am not sure where you reside but some off my friends did internships with Eramus (European Union student exchange programme) and they got paid by that organization. Its kinda hard to get paid internships, only some big studios give it in EU.
not to drift from this discussion...but Can we PLEASE have stuff like this jammed into a Wiki on "breaking in the industry" with categories of specialties or something... The general discussion forum is getting too many college student topics of this stuff and its really turning into a big Blue Note catalog.:poly008:
Just took a spot on Dallas Doan gumroad mentorship! :) I'm a 3D game art student, started 7 months ago and I'm having a great fun in 3D ^^, let's see how much I can improve with Dallas he seems a very nice guy.
Hello folks! I will post more works for a videogame called " Spanish Language Route" by Every View SL. Its an educative game to learn spanish and play with other students online www.spanishlanguageroute.com I made characters, environments and props when i was working there last year.
Nice work for a student man. The tank's texture is kinda bare and seems too reflective (my shader btw?) The stationwagon looks good, but where the hell are the rearlights, lol ? Also the wires from the rear arch to the backside are a bit wonky. Your wires on the Shelby are actually better.
