@G0056 A few posts above there's a couple of discussions about how to use existing geometry as support loops and a few pages back there's a discussion about a similar shape. It's definitely worth taking some time to read through the posts and figure out a way to apply that information to the problem. The basic idea is to…
@miners It kind of looks like there's a step between some of the parts which suggest they're separate pieces. If that's the case then it would be easier to model the parts individually. Is it some kind of stamped metal shroud? For the mesh you already have: the simplest solution is to run an inset on the flat area, merge…
You need more supporting loops. I would highly suggest reading through this thread to get a better understanding. It's worth it. Also just mess around with it man.
Shaz probably means double control edges. However his example introduces some obsolete edge loops because it's not about density really but just controlling the edges.
How do you just 'add more geo'? Remake the entire thing? Is there a way to add more edges to a cylinder after its already editable and not be a loop cut?
See how it lights up along the corner? Where it supposed to be dark. I added loops around the model but doesn't seem to be fixing it. Am I being to picky?
Same thing as above just more sides, adding/deleting edge loops in certain areas, moving verts to fit the curve and etc, .obj example provided: Download
Because it nullifies most of the content in this thread. Heh. Seriously, I've switched over to psubs and creasing and I won't ever go back. Fuck edge loops. :P
