Maya doesn't use Smoothing groups per say, It's just defining hard and soft edges. The closest way to mimic them would be going through and hardening the outside edges of the shell/UV island and softening the interior ones. -

i suggest you to measure your ceiling height in meters with a distance tool in whatever soft you use for modeling, just look up the height somewhere, i think its something like 10 meters high -

Just thought of something. The masonry seems to have a softness to it, it must have been intentionally painted that way by the artist to add to the romance to it. Your scene has harder edges and that could be the reason why SHEPEIRO describes it as prison like. -

Do you have some examples of how hard edges are visible with hard edges vs soft? There shouldn't be any difference in how a curvature map is baked either way. What are you using to bake the curvature map? -

I really like your brush strokes, really hard but also soft and smudgy, is it mostly one brush? could you describe how to go about getting that setting in your software... Im guessing its painter? -

Lunch
I'm having a 7", 4 slice, personal pizza with peperoni, sausage, and mushroms. And a can of Sunkist orange soda. I've eaten 2 slices (except the crust) and I'm already very full. Must. Nap. Somewhere. And I'm also Lvl 40 in my 3rd game of Aria of Sorrow.
