For the buildings, did you make giant model for it? Cause thats what it looks like in the pic. Would you recommend making the bulding by having smaller modular pieces and stacking them on top of each other?
This looks amazing, I like the forms of everything and colour pallete you've gone for, is there any chance of some break down shots or some of the modular pieces ? What software did you use for the texturing as well?
If it is part of a modular set, then overlapping will be fine. The best way to combine two objects is to do it by hand, but that is far from the most efficient. Using pro-boolean and then going in and cleaning up the mesh a nice way to do it.
Ok, I have an idea! I will create modular cave assets and the main textures will be driven by seamless maps and tesselation. I made for a test 3 materials .... 1. marmoset rendering 2. Ingame view
Really cool man, is it all modular ? If so, I'm really curious how you set up the modules :) Also awesome work on the materials, its always hard to make white materials look convincing!
Hi m4dcow Thanks a lot for your reply, great advice. I've actually looked at the modular mount and blade write up and have been considering it. The other links look real good. Cheers Jim
Day 04 part 2 Here is some development stuff on the project to finish off the day. A modular kit for a high rise. Haha not 2d but its what I got. UDK Good night yall!
Alien craft are coming along, I just have a few things i need to change with them then i should be happy. Here is a modular turret I'm putting together to replace those red blocks.
I'm now establishing the basic architecture with a few modular pieces I made and single brick meshes to break it up a bit. It's still very repetitive but I'm trying to take it one layer of variation at a time.
Concept sketched arena exterior and modular design ideas for the stalls. My plan is to then sculpt these out and use them as either underlay ref for my illustration pieces or jump off point for further design iteration.
