Dang it, I just keep getting into more problems. Here's whats up: Last post I found out that to get the lighting correct on curved meshes the UV ends have to be at a perfect horizontal or vertical alignment, like the picture in the previous post. I actually had both the texture channel the same as the lightmap channel, so…
Hello! This is my very first time using PolyCount, and what a better way to introduce myself and the situation. My name is Brittany Batchelder, and I'm a professionally working Illustrator & Writer for the Book/ Tarot & Publication industry, and currently a freelance 2D Concept Artist w/ 3D Art Skill-sets. I learn by doing, not following tutorials. I don't want to do a donut, I want to do [something] and I feel strong aversion to watch unnecessarily long videos with music, silly jokes and FX narrated by tiny heads. That doesn't mean tutorials are terrible, they're just not my cup of tea. They might not be yours either. So I…
at this stage i would recommend blocking in colour; it'll help with grouping details and getting proportions right; you can drag your concept in as a texture, apply it to a plane, then colour sample the texture (shortcut c) and go from subtool to subtool, rbg > fill
@gloriousczar - Thanks for posting the image! It's always great to see what people are using MightyBake for. If you get more images you are happy with, please post them. Regarding the curvature maps - What would you think about having all three written as separate alpha masks? Is there a particular workflow that you need…
If you want to dive back into the spirit of that era you'll get a kick out of the Vertex ebooks, still available to download. https://ryanhawkins.gumroad.com/ Flipping through them again every now and then over the years it's honestly kind of amazing to see how the internet (and online art communities) have devolved since.…

Yea I'm using photoshop 5.5, don't have a newer version, not seeing a smoothing checkbox to check. Tried lowering the spacing, didn't change anything. It's not that the stroke is broken up, it's more like it's not getting all the data for curve and only getting a few points which it plays connect the dots with. Here's a…
Hey everyone, I'm back again. I've forgotten to post for a while again, and this time I've also forgotten some of the things I've created updated and learned since last time. But lets see what I can remember. -I built some new areas of the map loosely basses on a couple of my favorite reference images. -I learned how to…
I'm not seeing problems with your ZIP. This is rendered with V-Ray viewport IPR. I did have to add a Smooth modifier and set it to Smoothing Group 1, just to get nice smooth normals. TurboSmooth is set to 3 iterations. This is in 3ds Max 2024.2.1, with V-Ray 6.20.02. WIndows 11 Home, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, 64GB RAM.…
