Hey guys, I'm making a simple game over the time period of a few months, mainly to study blueprints in UE4. To focus on the blueprints, I will simplify all graphical aspects of the game. Since it is the year of the monkey, the theme for the game will be monkeys! Game Tasks: You plays the as a monkey, who is escaping from…
Thanks for the suggestion, Professor420. It was something we did think about, possibly storing some of the lightmap data in the alpha channel of our texture to conserve space. But as rooster pointed out, it would only give us a greyscale colour spectrum. We need a coloured lightmap, so we'll have to use the full RGB…
Website updates Made font a little bigger, at 10 right now. Change the background color to dark gray. Optimized some of the scenes a little bit. Added some new environments. Re-lit some of the scenes. Big thanks for the advice so far and hopefully to the advice to come.
Hi Jessica, let me say that your texture work is sensational! I am in love with your painted style. At the same time I must say I am a little bit concerned about the lighting, now it looks too simplistic and tends to give it a "realistic" look, I mean in terms of color scheme and shadows as well. That's only my thought. I…
Isolation/Knightly/Space stuff... His Majesty's Starship ("The Ark" in the US) by Ben Jeapes - Really aimed at "teens" but it's got some cool ideas on space tech, combat and aliens. I guess it kind of deals with isolation and knightly behavour a bit, too. Excession by Iain M Banks - Some very cool space related stuff.…
It also says Unreal Engine for Unreal Development Kit which is not what UDK actually says when you open it. Anyway Im positive you need UE3. :) Not sure about dynamic light vs baked? According the interwebz characters are lit dynamically, so not sure.
I don't think it would be very safe to put a lit lantern on top of an oil canister. Probably an OSHA violation :P I like your foliage look though! The vines are a bit too regular/even for my taste, maybe mess 'em up a little?
Nice work! I personally felt that the sunlight might be a little too harsh, especially since it seems to be a bit cloudy and dark outside. Its also kind of hard to see any light bounce because everything just seems evenly lit. Hope that makes sense! :)
So, generally the point of calibration is to match the result that you would get while printing, at the very least, that is what hardware calibrators are tuned for. I don't think you can really look at your monitor and tell if its calibrated properly or not. That said, higher end panels tend to require calibration less, or…
Wow, how come no one commented on this? This is looking sweet! :D I'm not especially in any position to give critiques, haha, but I think maybe the lower ab/hip area seems a bit iffy. It seems like the abs and obliques aren't really making the shape I'm used to seeing, the V shaped muscles down to the crotch. But then…
