Is there a way to projection map using Mental Ray without getting errors? I want to bake Ambient Occlusion from my high-poly to my low-poly. The scanline renderer can do it but I'd like to use Mental Ray. The error seems to occurs where the high and low-poly objects are Z-fighting. Here's an example:
Truckin' away and getting closer to the end of the high poly process! I figured I'd work with a different Z Material to mix things up a little from before. I might try to rework the folds to show them off a little more. Hair makes me go crazy. Figuring out cards will be an interesting process later... C&C always welcome!
The snow is indeed basically a directional light with a hard cutoff (presumably if( world(normal).Z > 0.3 ) white else color ?) which looks really ugly in some caves... Try putting it in an indoor scene and testing it with some point lights. I think the channels might be swapped here but unsure. I presume Crazybump is…
Michael Z - So there are no exe files in users/public/quixel/suite ? That is very strange! Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall, sounds like something was corrupted during your install! you can also try your "revo uninstaller" to clean all the quixel files from your system, this has worked for many others. Let me know…
Put the joints in a group, duplicate it and scale the new group -1, usually on Z. The negative scale is on the parent object (the group) and your joints retain their orientation and values. That transform history will stay with the joints, even if you delete history. So if you want clean joints without a group transform,…
You could export your whole model now and do the AO in xN, then just grab the parts you want. This shouldn't take to long, as you're only missing a few small areas. I do this all the time, and just blend the new map in on a new layer in Mudbox. But then again, I use z for sculpting and mud for painting. Looking freaking…
I reckon we need a master thread; people are frequently building. (I'm building again myself) :poly136: I kinda regret putting an i7 3770 in a Z board... seems like a waste. If you can spring for a i7 3770K I would recommend that; or, maybe even drop down to an unlocked i5? You might also want to wait for the Haswell chips.
Interesting stuff, thank you for the detailed reply Tom. While I haven't tested extensively you can probably get .obj to work well enough, as long as you're content to flip all faces and scale in -100% in X or Z on import. That might get tedious quickly. I at least haven't had any success with any FBX version other than…
This is what works for me. System -> Preferences... -> Accuracy and Units Unit System = Game Units Default Unit = Game Units Meters per Game Unit = 1.0 Up Axis = Y Though I did make some changes to the script so that when I export my models they face toward -Z in Modo and face forward in the default Unreal model browser…
Hello antifact, I tried editing the tile size but it won't accept the input. I turned off the denoising as well but no change still :( Yes! I want to share the file here but the site says it's not an acceptable file so here's a wetransfer link: https://we.tl/t-36yeOElWiD I'm not using a camera as of the moment. I've only…
