I'm a little curious about what exactly the benefit of using it would be. Especially with things like Marmoset and UE4 floating around, and even Maya having a PBR shader built in (not sure about Max though). Is there a specific reason for wanting to use it?
Marmoset has a good rundown of physical based shading with links for further reading. https://www.marmoset.co/toolbag/learn/pbr-theory Another good one is this collection of articles from Siggraph 2013 http://blog.selfshadow.com/publications/s2013-shading-course/
Very cool thanks! I'll check these links out! If I have more questions I'll pop them in here. :) Oh, but i guess I am curious, is Marmoset Skyshop not useful anymore now that Unity implemented pbr shaders?
I would just create some nice PBR renders from Zbrush, or Mental Ray if you know how to use it. No use in dropping a load of money on Keyshot just for a fancy renderer when what you have if perfectly fine
another character I finished in my free time. I was learning PBR texturing so thought of trying it out on this model. It seems traditional texturing would have been more relevant for this fantasy character though. concept by Qinghao Wu
I've used that preset but it won't look in Unity as it does in SP viewport because of PBR. But you can get alright approximation if you preview your model in base color only. At least that's what I did for my UDK project.
Hey everyong it's been a while, only had time to work on this project recently so here's my latest let me know what you think. Low poly (12k triangles) 4092x4092 game asset PBR in Substance painter.
I always thought Blizzard did a fantastic job with the tier 2 armor sets in WoW especially Judgement. I thought it would be cool to re-create it with PBR and a higher poly count. A dwarf was of course the natural choice to don the legendary set. I hope I did it justice. Total tri count: 80k…
