Yep. TGAs can be 8bpp (256 colors), 16bpp (65536 colors), 24bpp (16m colors), or 32bpp (24bpp plus alpha). TIFF supports all those, plus it also supports higher bits per CHANNEL (bpc). It's good stuff indeed, but... Do you really need those kinds of small details? I mean, imagine that prop was for a game, where your making small tinny picky littly winny details, but the end result will be a shitty 512*512 or even 256*256, all that would be lost. Yeah this always confuses me. 256 = accuracy to 0.39 512 = 0.19 1024 = 0.097 So what people are really saying is that they need 512/1024 levels of sensitivity, to set their transparency values to levels of accuracy finer than you can actually manually set them in photoshop? Re: Repeat only a portion of a texture map?
I can seem to figure out how to tile a texture on x and y on one map... I'm using 512*512 and if a tile takes up 1/4 at 256*256 it doesn't tile. I'd need to take up half in order to offset and have it tile correctly, but if I need to take up 1/2 of the texture map, tiling in both axis is impossible, no?… -

Raising the texel density slowly will show the texture grow. Try 2048 texture with a camouflage material from smart materials with a starting density of 256, then reimport and raise the texel density from 256 to 512 and rerender. Until you hit 1 pixel more than 2048, then it goes from growing into tiling and tiles alot and… -

depends on the type of game and size of your chars. i'd say around 1500. 8 skinned characters cost quite some performance. too many bones could make your framrate drop pretty fast. i'd go for 512*512. if you ain't getting too close, you probably are ok wit 256*256. but texturespace is not that limited, so i'd go higher and… -
