Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has any tips for creating an irregularly stacked stone wall. I've made countless "stacked" stone/brick walls, but I need something that feels more like it has stones stacked into appropriately sized spaces. Something like in the image below. I'd like to avoid doing a sculpt and do it all…
Hey, looks cool but could be fleshed more imo. Could increase readability by having wall elements different color than floor + some trims. Maybe break up large areas a bit, e.g. with some individual bricks. Also I would pay attention to contrast, so individual elements don't visually break apart. Would keep an eye on…
nice scene and lighting, the shadow on the big white wall is quite strongly cyan, makes me think you have some ambient light that is slightly too saturated. The shadow from the neon sign in the foreground looks almost black, perhaps that's just the dark bricks but seems odd to me. looking forward to seeing this finished :)
I love this! This has really had a ton of improvement over all your posts! My only concern is the mixing of redbrick and black brick in the same space, seems a bit clashing to me. Other than that, this feels like a coffee shop I would go to in a old town district or downtown area. thumbs up
Cheers for the crits. The boat in the previous pics was just a placeholder, they are much further off in the distance now! As far as we can tell from the research and ref we've gathered they did have herringbone bricks for walls back then as far as we can tell. Hopefully over the coming weeks we can sort out the muddy…
I like the building props, other stuff is good too. Just that im working on enviro assets myself :) . Just few things I would point out is too much specularity on bricks that look like have gone through a lot of wear and tear, pollution etc. And noticable texture patterns on building to the right.
I would say turn down the bloom and vignette a notch or two, and also lower the intensity of the ambient light to add more depth to the shadows. Also some of your low stone walls look like they're shading incorrectly (the bricks appear to be sunken in rather than sticking out) I like your grass and bushes!
Not sure if you have it alread or are planning to add it later but the stucco needs to have a thickness where you have exposed brick. At the moment it looks really flat which makes me think you haven't added the normalmaps yet. Most visible in the third shot. Looks like a cool environment, it will be fun to see the progress
hey so your edge wear and warping is too obvious and feels forced, its also all moving together in the one direction, also your cracks look like a single map multiplied over the top, you need to warp this and blend it in better so that one crack does not carry exactly over to the next brick :)
So, I've still been bashing my head against this brick wall, with no luck so far. Among other things, I've tried importing the SMD files using the Wall Worm plugin for 3DS 2013, but it gives me an error "bone index out of range"... So I'm stuck with FBX for the moment it seems...
