Hello , as trainign , exercise , fun and whatever more I am trying to make a realistic looking tropical island by scratch in cryengine2 on the Blue Mars platform , wich use the same engine .... I want to create all by scratch and get the same ( hopefully better ) quality of the original Crytek tropical Island Environment…
Here is a proof that the "general usable materials assigned by slots" is the best performing and also good looking solution. Use a standard size of e.g. 1 square meter for the UV projection (e.g. box/cube projection) and make some seamless tileable materials with now significant spots. for large areas use different scaled…
If you have soo many problems with this and you came not up with the idea to ask your teacher.. or simply look a some real life references.. for example any twist drill available in any hardware store.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Drillbits.jpg ..then you may have to overthink your path to be an 3D artist.. maybe…
The main problem with this method, or a similar method someone else posted a while ago(where they take the lowpoly and bevel edges to create the high, but keep the silhouette the same to avoid waviness) is that your edges will always look like jagged lowpoly models. When you get some slight waviness in there, it will at…
Thank you so much! By cuts I'm guessing you mean multi-cut, yeah? The work of the Spider-Man games have been a great inspiration for me as a 3D Artist, so really, thank you. Another question not as related to the retopo process. How were you able to create the tendrils for the symbiote stuff? Like the suit transformation…
I decided to re-assess my this pieces' textures ... again :) The original was too plain. The second was too overly chipped and the wear was too "painted on". I have learn much about texturing since then and I believe this is a major improvement. Less chipping, more roughness variation and more based on real examples. I'm…
No need to snap to a grid for a 1-off asset. You really only need to use gridded modular meshes if you are making a whole town of buildings, and want to leverage a library of reusable parts. For example: https://polycount.com/discussion/144838/ue4-modular-building-set-breakdown/p1
hey guys, I have a question that the web gurus here may be able to help with. Perfect example is polycount itself. I always punch in "boards.polycount.net" and it redirects to "polycount.com/forum" How is this done specifically? I know about .htaccess 301 commands, but I cant seem to grasp how to tell it to use a…
There is alot of musculature you are missing. The bone structure is too strong around the jaw and not strong enough in areas like the brow. The example is stylized and the features are enlarged while the skull is small in comparison which suggests youth. In Blender you can set up an image plane and place the front and side…
I've noticed it a lot in recent games like Oblivion Remastered, God of War Ragnarok, etc. The modular meshes have thickness for some reason, even if they are tileable or unique. But some games like AC: Mirage have all their meshes thin. What's exactly the point of thickness here? Example from Ragnarok
