Welcome bg! This looks great for your first month! Brings me back to my first modeling class in college. I agree with what's been said, putting in small details like trim and corner bricks would really add a lot to it :)
Thanks for the advice Scott, the company I have in mind usually does indie and mobile titles so I'm trying to keep the scene within that range, otherwise I would definitely create some normals. I added the trim and changed the lighting
Finally started on the texturing. It's still early but there's also not much time left to post updates :D . Looking at it now I'll probably go back and de-saturate the yellow trim a bit. There's still a lot to paint and polish, hopefully I'll finish in time.
There's still a lot to work on. I'm not particularly happy with the brass, and the gloss map effect seems stretched around the neck... Then there's also the brass trim around the edge of the helmet that needs to be highlighted in the gloss map, and in general, it just needs to look less low-res.
very intersting stuff there ! Love the mood and the subject. I reaaly like your plaster material could be cool to see your Texture stratas. Just one thing, the mapping on the floor there seems too big for a carpet and miss some trims on the sides.
Does anyone know if there's a script out there that will let me set a unfold constraint to only horizontal or vertical axis, similar to the options Maya has? It's incredibly time consuming to hand-straighten UVs of curved strips of geo to trim texture sheets without it.
That's what slice curve does. :) It slices new edgeloops and creates a new polygroup. Trim curve will chop the mesh (it's slice/hide polygroup/delete hidden/close hole in one tool.) You should read the ZB docs for simple things like this.
Nice work! My only crit is where the stock meets up with the main body, looks a bit blobby, i think it should look more trimmed. Reminds me to get off my ass and back on my appleseed project.. :o
That Crystal be looking good! "JamesArk" Are you doing all kinds of shader stuff for it or is just paint? Overall good work! Here is my progress on the pillars. I have other assets going but the textures are still in progress. Mostly trim sheets. Keep it up everyone!
colours don't really suggest kunkka at the moment. also the design's a bit too square and generic, i think you should have some tapering bits and try to integrate some details and texture from kunkka himself. like some of that classy gold trim
