Hello! For some reason Maya's UV editor isn't letting me scale in the Y-axis. Every time I try to use it it just scale in the x. I've checked my tool settings and my constraints are off and no video or search has been able to help me so far. Is there anything I should try to help me resolve this?
Thats a damn good question man, I'm glad you asked. Despite us being horribly geographically challenged down here as far as the Games Industry goes in order to progress, I had to completely abolish that entire side of the equation from my mind. There were a couple of key factors to keep the fortitude buffed. 1) I turned…
It's very possible to achieve results that are very close to that image. You just have to make sure that you're understanding the lighting and understand how to 'fake' it if you have to. The type of lighting you see there is usually not even direct sunlight but just global illumination. In the rooms to the left, there are…
Some very good work here. @GuanAndOnly You've really added some character to your model with the chair and games consoles. @Remicess The water looks amazing. @Algoru Nice work. I like the Sketchfab model, it even looks to have reflections of a beach around the sides of the water. I did notice the support posts for the hut…
Here's a condensed version of making a simple flickering light using light functions: Has to be a dynamic light - Move/Toggle Create a spotlight MOVEABLE In the content browser, create a new material In the materials properties, look under Material settings, set Blend mode to Translucent and Lighting Model to Unlit Under…
We had a debate at work weather that was the Washington Monument or the Empire State Building; the jaggies in the low res version made it seem more like the latter, but I think it's clearly the Monument and thus DC in the high res trailer. There's some research for ya, Poop About the style... on the one hand, I agree that…
I did try setting snapping to fixed by 1024 and wasn't sure I could see the point? There is definitely some misunderstanding or miscommunication happening here that I would like to clear up. Now as best as I can tell this is your problem and solution: Modo's grid by default does not increase/decrease by the numbers you…
Hey man, first of all, I like the second reference image way more that the first one because you cant really see anything in the first image. So its really hard to tweak the lighting with an image like that. Overall, I think I like your first shot better than the second^^ (that one feels just waaay too strong = I just make…
Johnathan Williams still has some public videos of his edge modeling and facial topology series from the late 2000's and early 2010's. This is fairly representative of how things were typically done prior to digital sculpting. At least for those using open source tools from the period. Tool sets do vary but a lot of the…
Light will have a tougher time moving about your space than it will in the reference image. Your scene is significantly wider. Look how intimate the reference is. Not nearly as wide or as long. You might want to pull in the width and the depth so you can achieve a more intimate setting. Your reference is the recipient of a…
