well check this out> https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/search/page=1/sortby=relevance/query=low&poly The main thing here is to make a set of something, not just one piece. For instance, you could make a low poly set of tanks or medieval houses with lods.
Is it possible to send commands from Maya to the Stingray console port or to Maya's script editor port? python/mel to lua? Does installation of the DCC link give us any new commands mel functionality we can leverage if nothing else for querying on the Maya side?
thanks very much for all the help, ill check that vid out in a min. just out of query i have split the smoothing groups at any 80/90 degree angle but i havent split the uvs because will it not be a pain in the ass to texture if the uvs are all split??
Just wanted to make a quick query before I post my WIP. 1) How come everyones using 1 sided geometry (planes) - won't this look kinda off/ flat 2) Is anyone using a game engine as most seem to be within 3D software... :\
Di$array, how are you getting on with yours? I enjoyed seeing your entry. By the way, thanks for that response following my query. Anyway guys! Here's my submission, might colour still though- hope you dig it like diglett. Thanks, Your pal, Pooketz
Aha, so via the Paint Vertex Color Tool, we can apply a texture map as vertex colors, which can then be queried with "polyColorPerVertex -q -r -g -b", and written as normals via "polyNormalPerVertex -xyz". I'll try to write a script to write the colors to normals in the morning.
Thanks! Nothing much, just an update on my texturing! Going to try and crank out as many of the assets as I already have before I start working on any other details! I'd still really appreciate any info on my lighting query from the last post!
Thanks for the clarification, I'll keep an eye out for future updates. Cheers. Edit Half the time I confuse myself, let alone others asking obviously non-sensical questions, after the fact :# anyway alll good more than cleared up my 'so called' query.
If you click on the Binoculars icon in Spy++, it brings up a window that allows you to drag a target to the window you want to query info from. I just checked in Photoshop, and that toolbar and the main canvas have the same class name. That's a very good clue... I should be able to fix this.
The only other suggestion I can make is to search the V-Ray forum, and post a query there. I know you said before you don't have an account there, but for me that came for free when I purchased it. That forum is the best resource, since the V-Ray developers actually reply.
