Custom normals are pretty great, though they can be a little tough to manage when you have a complex mesh to worry about. It's less of a worry when your details and decals are floating and not cut into the mesh. If you are a Maya user, this script has been really wonderful so far :)…
thats an awful shot. holy decals batman!!!! I like that they are reinventing her but honestly she just looks like the same generic character to me that ectoplasms whenever she finds treasure or jumps :D But I dont think you can go any other direction with her. They need to sort the lighting out really badly.
good stuff, im glad you werent calling it done. maybe add more mid level detail? right now you have very broad detail( the color changes) and the fine gritty dirt and scratches. I would add more more elements between the two like perhaps decaling or introducing more shapes to the suit?
So here is my project (almost finished) at week 8. I have 2 more weeks to finish this and i still need to finish lighting the scene. I also just finished the first pass ground texture (no spec or gloss yet). Plus , time permitting, I need to add trash, ground decals, etc. I will also post sample sheets of individual pieces…
Solved! https://youtu.be/ZnfHltHGtWc?t=332 i am trying to figure out how to expose these parameters in substance, i figured out how to position a stencil texture with transform 2d, but can't expose the field of the texture location so i can change them out in unity, anyone know how he managed to change these decal textures…
I would do in texture, probably layered material because it can be tiled in shader to get better quality than baked (though it would look less unique, some details could be sculpted... or these details could be added as decals, like the torn cloth) Paragon use layered materials and I like how good cloth look in it.
@Stiff Thank you! Also, I increased the contrast on the normal map on the wall you mentioned :) Been a while since last time but I'll just keep working on this scene till it looks better I guess. Main things to add now is random junk on the street and graffiti and grunge decals. Just keep the critiqe going
Smaller update this week, what with the late update last week but got the remaining current props done. Now I just need to think of more polish that I can add to really finish it off. Will prob look into maybe adding those crystals, adding decals and thinking of props that will add some life into the scene. Artstation Link
Quick WIP update guys. Got the final design and the final color development that I am going with. The decal stickers are just a trial, not final at all. I will be building my own ironic hipster robot at war stickers when the time comes. The render is still WIP but I got nothing left in me engine for today :poly121:
Thank you :) ! I am redoing the doors today as even after I have added the door knobs etc it looks a little strange. I will post an update later on today as I added some decals and wall posters which kind of added a lot mood the environment. I look forward to hearing what you guys think!
