You can make your own bone structure for UT as well. I'm pretty sure that you just have to keep a naming convention that's as close to the default skeleton's as possible. I once animated a large construction robot for an ill-fated school project, and the programmers were able to import it into UT 2003. I imagine that 2004…
good job. just putting my two cents. but why dont you show some roots? the way its attached to the ground right now seems as if its gonna fall at my head :P stick some pieces of root from the floor around the main piece. take a look at some reference pics, and consider that your tree is quite high; the higher the tree, the…
Hello, I have been working on this jltv military vehicle for a while and I don't know how many different materials/UV maps I should use. I have previously made only small items like guns and robot arms where I used one single material for the whole thing. I think in this occasion even single 8k material wouldn't be enough.
Hmmm well, to be fair the eyes and cap makes him look off dota's style, looks like he is a 90's robot. The animations looks like he has no weight at all, or just has a roller under his feet. I guess those are some major points that I had to leave a critique~ it's always important to follow the game style.
I modeled the robot head in 3D to use as a base for a paintover. There were more details I wanted to add but this is as far as I got. Wanted to try a 80% 3D render and 20% painting, but I know I won't have the time for this contest so I'm halting 3D and diving straight into 2D :) Thanks for checking out my thread! -Dank…
This is supposed to be a scifi scene, so where is the science fiction? all you have are walls and panels. There is no interesting models i.e. gadgets, robotic elements, interesting devices etc. Build your image library, find some strong concepts to follow cause this just isnt cutting it. Keep working at it and find some…
Since it's about character design, tell us about it. What was your goal with the design. What are you trying to convey? The first thing that stands out to me is proportion. The torso is way too long. Proportion is one of the most important and difficult aspects of character design so focus a lot on that. Also if you like…
Thanks for the words of encouragement mate. I will defenetly be focused on learning as much as I can. It's just that I'm not a creative person in the sense of design. So creating things like clothing, or vehicles, or robots, armour. I have NO sense of design whatsoever. So I guess that's what I need to really focus on…
well, i was thinking that his arm wasnt gonna be CUT off at all, just be like a glove which he can pull his hand in and out... or be like mega man where the barrel and mag comes off and keeps the body bit. I fear i may be inadequate to model a robotic hand and such... unless i steal valves model :P
