Basic- Party Dress Today I just started with a basic tube dress. I just wanted to get back into the workflow. It took a bit longer than expected because I was learning how to use maya's blend shapes to wrap the retopo'd mesh around the high poly dress. There are notable mistakes with this- I intend to learn from them.
I really like the texture of the blade and the helmet, for me it really sells being made of steel. However the wrap part and the black parts seem really plain, almost flat colour with not real material definition. Also it looks like he's holding onto the pommel, if that's the character/animations you intend to replace I…
Hey everyone, So this is where I am at with my cinematic sequence. Starting to wrap it up, and would appreciate any feedback. Right now I am working on making the beam more sexy, as well as coming up with an ending, and polish. Thanks! (Everything was created by me except the trees in the back and some of the foliage) [vv]…
Thanks guys I'm glad you like it and I'm definitely keeping your crits in mind. I just wanted to post saying the scene is still alive, but summer ended, school started, and I got an awesome internship. Needless to say I haven't had a lot of time, but very soon I'll be back to wrapping this thing up.
I plan to create the thread sometimes tomorrow. Roughly US afternoon, and evening/night time for EU. @CapableWizard That's entirely up to you. It's not like we're going to gather and grade each work or anything. Last time a few people took extra days to wrap things up. Some probably plan to finish it later down the road.
So end of day one - Base colours / materials are in and his Rebar club and arm wraps/armour are done! - Blood splat on the club's a bit cheesy but should look nice in render, all wet 'n' shiny! Took quite a while but was just starting to get up to speed there but I gotta stop now, it's 12am here man! :s
This mirrors my experience with it as well. I had lots of fun and I didn't want to stop until I had wrapped everything up. I'd also like to point out that I never saw one single bug in the game across my 8 hours of play. Then add the flawless presentation and you have a truly awesome game.
Thanks guys. I haven't had much time to work on this, but I'd like to push and try to finish. Will be tough but hopefully I can manage. D_Wall : Yeah I agree. My reference folder is much more towards the Deus Ex side. Small update but looking to finish the highpoly in the next day or two and wrap up the low.
Looking great Hugh, the only thing that really stands out with me is the rock texture. The strokes seem so big compared to anything around it. Maybe it is tiled too big? I've been toying around with some stuff after work here and there I'll have to wrap it up and post it somewhere so you can take a look at it.
Here is a small artbook I did for my game to clarify the gameplay and overall vibe. (Who knows someday it might actually get printed! o:) ) I'm now wrapping up my prototype after a small pause caused by my computer breaking down. :D All good now. After this: Combat animations, here I come!
