Re: Fan art. Okay or not?
I'm pretty sure I've seen Feng Zhu do some projects that could almost be considered fan art, things that could easily fit in the Star Wars or other fantasy universes, and a homage or interpretation of Doom. You do probably want to avoid just doing fan art or just simple recreations of existing IP. -

GeoDav over at the UDK forums noted that my wear and tear on the assets look like bullet holes, id like to make sure everyone knows im aiming for a more 40k vibe, im not looking to add fantasy warhammer damage such as melee weapon / magic damage, these are meant to look like hefty bolter bullets or similar! =] -

You cannot assign an artist a rating. Besides, someone with an "A" rating, let's say, just might not be a full "A" when it comes to the style a given company is looking for in a game. An amazing character artist for high-tech sci-fi games with lots of armor bits might not be as capable when it comes to pure fantasy or… -
