Here is some basic work I did in Photoshop. The normals were generated with the nvidia filter. Ignore the seam in since the brick and rock texture don't blend together yet. I was just testing how they would look when rendered. Let me know what you think. Alex
I was wonder if it is possible to blend textures by height like I watched in UDK. So if one texture was a brick and the other texture is moss. You can paint with vertex to only have the moss blended in the cracks? Like this. http://eat3d.com/free/vertex_painting Any direction would be appreciated!
We British may be last but the hype is still there x) Gotta love the updating phase of gaming. I was scared the latest PS4 firmware was gonna brick my console after hearing rumours. It has definitely made the dashboard laggy though which was also mentioned...
This is for a dungeon I'm working on. I'm trying to hand paint it all as I go, because it's a skill I'd very much like to develop and I suck at it. Any tips, crits, etc, are appreciated. The bricks are just there as a size check for my walls, don't mind them.
That's the shadowmap doing that - you need to adjust your lightmap UV's Also in a case like this where you could easily make the pieces so that the brick seam lines up with the edge you should try to do that wherever possible to make it easier to hide the seam.
It depends on how the substance was made. I've found that certain techniques won't always scale well, like edge detect or similar effects. Looks like this relies on having good definition of the grout to form the bricks and blend other grunges, but is getting lost as it's tiled down.
This... App is a tool. Like a hammer. Some people probably use brick instead of a hammer. Modelling is a modelling. You can use whatever tool you want. For env art choosing engine is more important. Modelling is straight forward... just model shit out.
Nicolas, is there anywhere we can buy that amazing new stone/brick texture you made that's used for advertising SD5? I'm absolutely bananas about it, and I'm dying to explore that graph! Regardless, you're work is absolutely amazing, and I hope you keep it up!
here an overview of the top and the bottom is a render of what ive done so far texturewise. the building on the right of the firt part ive textured will be wood as well and the two others will be brick,im gonna add a few other things to the environment, but i dont know yet.
Looks cool. But why let kids have all the fun? I say make 'em use Max or Maya and get 'em to the point where they're ready to through a brick through the monitor, like a real artist. Have you actually tried this program?
