I am looking for referance images to use for improving my modeling skills. Nothing in particular, I just can't seem to find any orthagraphic images. I googled images of guns and all I get are side views. Is there a site dedicated to these orthagraphic images? Appreciate any help very much....
@Tzur_H The lighting and FX guys might have some awesome tips to share on their side as they did some very cool stuff. But for environment, our motto towards the end was BAKE IT TO A PLANE. Our TA's helped us do an awesome job of hiding it all though.
Starting from scratch again is really good idea There are quite a few things that need fixing : major one been proportions and joints size Do you follow any specific reference ? Can you post side view no prospective and no arms (cut them below deltoid ) ?
I probably would have moved the seam one loop to the right as shown in your image just because it actually hides it more from the side view. There isn't anything wrong with relax in max. It's actually pretty good relax actually. Just press it a few times :P
A few suggestions; - 3/4 views - Game-size images - Smoothing the normals on the models - Have the information on the side - Upload as a .psd and have layers with/without weapons/armour - Add more space around the model, there's barely any room to add stuff - Portait view of each hero
Not much to see at the moment, but I started on the blockout for the console today. It's pretty straightforward at the moment because the texture of the original one is the most descriptive of form so far. The center console is separated into two separate pieces, front and back, because the two sides are supposed to slide…
Like everyone said above, having something that isn't art related that you do on the side is a good distraction. I like to play the guitar and take day trips sometimes. Bike riding, photography, going for a light jog... stuff like that helps with "resetting" your creative juices.
Yea, drawing from the "elbow" is definitely a good habit to develop. This might be easier or harder depending on the size of your tablet, but it will help take the wrinkles out of your strokes. As a side effect, it also helps discourage "preemptive rendering", which i think we all need sometimes.
Thanks for all of the help and feedback guys. Here is my new webpage and demo reel. I have enjoyed engaging with the forums and updating my work. Thanks again. Hope you all like. You helped me make it! ;)
