Thanks for all of the help and feedback guys. Here is my new webpage and demo reel. I have enjoyed engaging with the forums and updating my work. Thanks again. Hope you all like. You helped me make it!
Not a fan of how the demo reel appears to stutter when it's slowed down. No idea if that's intentional. But overall looks good. Your Android can use some beauty shot with badass pose, though. Webpage is responsive and easy to read.
Your website is simple, clear and easy to navigate and your content is done to a high standard. But for some reason when looking at your portfolio it doesn't feel special. The quality of your work is high for but some reason the presentation is falling flat. This could just be my personal opinion so take it with a pinch of salt.
The Loading Machine Android feels like it doesn't have a money shot, there isn't a shot that really presents the character to me. The first shot of the character should sell the theme, style and pose. A character must have.... character... You could for instance pose him picking up some metal boxes on a circle diorama as a full page spread. Then as you scroll down you start to show smaller focal shots. Essentially what your communicating is....
- Look how cool this character is *BAM!*
- Now look at all the small details!
- Here are some wires/textures so you know how proficient it was done.
I think this philosophy could be used throughout your portfolio and is the reason why I felt your portfolio didn't feel special, even though the work is done to a very high standard.
Thanks guys. I will definitely work on presentation in future cases. Unfortunately I am out of time to recreate this stuff at the moment...but there are a few things (yell mentioned them) that I'm not completely happy with. Always learning.
