Whichever parts of your mesh that are too close to each other/intersecting/would cause problems from cages bleeding onto each other, warrants a mesh name split. Over time, you'll develop the eye to know which meshes should be split, as you know there'd be an inevitable issue by analyzing parts of your mesh for baking.
