Blender's got a really cool workflow for this, it's a non-destructive process and you can tweak it up the ass: https://youtube.com/watch?v=Nn7mISvVzJk At the end you can convert it all to mesh and proceed with poly modeling, welding things together etc.
If you head to Autodesk's Area, they have a bunch of tutorials for Softimage. You can find a bunch at http://www.i3dtutorials.com/view/Tutorials too. As for reference models, you should be able to use a mdl decompiler to get the smd, which you can then import.

You can also try cutting from the bottom up but more than likely it's going to mess up. There are a lot of ways for it to triangulate that ngon and it has no idea what your…

The film is longer than long cat, and long cat is loooooooooooong. It's a pretty painful movie to watch. I had zero expectations going in and just wanted to see some destruction goodness, but after it was all over I really felt disappointed in the flick itself. Like I said, zero expectations for anything other than a movie…
So I'm fairly happy that my big cat studies seem to be paying off. I wanted to test my knowledge last night, so I did this Fantasy Big Cat Hybrid from memory (ref used for the face stripes). I'll post the finished picture when it's done, but it's nice to know that I can fairly quickly visualise the anatomy fairly…
