creating realistic hair is one of the biggest challenges facing acharacter artists using next gen engines.. I cant offer any help with what your looking for Oxynary.
Vig: Yes burt it's the perfect time to get a current gen console, the bargain bins are filled with great titles and the hardware is dirt cheap (88 Euros for a Gamecube with included game?).
gen metal is good. but yo need more stuff on your texture. how bout some stickers, text, or tape. text could be a warning, "made in china", that sort of thing.
Even Mass Effect 1 looked totally cool, one of the most accomplished visuals of this gen's SF games. And then ME2 has upped the quality to insane levels... just MHO...
Looks very good! 2048x2048 textures for something like this is insane, though... I mean it's fine for practise and showing off, but you'd never get that resolution in a current-gen game :)
when it comes to maybe doing a solo project the would be next gen what might be some good ideas for me to try a plaza or maybe a temple area like uncharted?
Finally got round to posing and lighting the Sorceress i made for the practice 1 module of semester A in my masters degree. http://www.therookies.co/projects/next-gen-gaming/dark-elf-sorceress/ Definitely looking for critique on lighting/composition... as i'm terrible at that.
This is an axe I made based off Diablo 3 sketch concepts. My goal for this was to create it as a next gen asset with hand painted textures. This asset was a new experience as I poly painted it in zbrush first then did touch ups in photoshop. Rendered in UT3
Well, just think - next year at E3 all the big guns are coming out, surely? You have to remember that we are nearing the end of the current gen console lifecycle.
