Honestly, I don't think the rendering/shading is any different from trying to do photorealistic renders. They're just thrown on stylized characters/props. The skin and eyes could be any SSS shader. The hair in both pictures have anisotropic highlights. The clothes, bucket, and ground are using any PBR dielectric material…
Hi Everyone! I'm a little late to the contest, but my name is EJ Johnson Jr aka Cartoon Components and I'm very new to creating 3d characters... After many years of drawing vector characters I was going to start telling animated stories after I purchased RL's Crazy Talk Animator.... Then I Discovered Character Creator and…
i love it right up to the moment the diffuse map appears... what avalean said about cartoonish is right, but imho it's the "wrong" sort of cartoonish - I can't really explain myself other than I don't think this style suits the model. Something just doesn't fit with it - I thought she was gonna be textured all…
I loved this cartoon but it did not last. You may want to go a more stylized cartoony route with this character. The proportions are Too accurate unlike the actual character. take a look at this guys proportions http://nicolasgarilhe.com/images/phocagallery/Comiccon2010/thumbs/phoca_thumb_l_constructionshot.jpg Good luck
Haha, as lame as it sounds. I recently came across some concept stuff for a less cartoony version of Pok'e'mon I thought was pretty sick. Maybe something like this, or re-shaping older cartoons or stories into a more realistic model. But then again, low-poly may not be the best for this. But still! Charizards, yo.
It was JordanN and it was not really cartoony pbr, it was basically just verbal diarrhea. We lean heavily towards leniency, but this was a sustained burden. https://polycount.com/discussion/154329/physically-based-3d-cartoon-art/p1 My feeling is PBR is merely a tool, not a style. Like, would you call diffuse-specular a…
Hey Gallamaji, I feel like if you enjoy making low poly and cartoony assets and environments definitely put that on your portfolio. I don't think it's bad to have some realistic stuff on your portfolio, but if you do it wouldn't hurt to have it divided between cartoon & realistic.
what we mean is that since it is a cartoony style ( and very well achieved - well done ) but a shader is what makes it look good..hey...its a cartoon after all... make something like this p.s - just a quick search on google thou... looking forward to see a charizard lol ( my fav )
Character is from Wakfu, the cartoon by the makers of the MMORPG Dofus : Since it's a very cartoony character I didn't add so many wrinkles and textures. Also thanks for the critique and links. I must confess that save for the shovel and base, I sculpted him out of a sphere, which might not me so moutch of good idea...
LC: thanks haha! guess i made it too cartoony. wanted to keep the cartoon/scary look the game had. maybe i'll make a red version that's scarier. :D here's another one: these are 800+ tris, 256tex, btw. Could be optimized further, but i'm really just having fun with these and trying out a new workflow.
