Hi all! This site was recommended to me a few weeks ago, only just got around to distilling my thoughts into a question, I hope someone can help. Over the last couple of years I have been making models to go into a Star Wars Galaxies Emu server. simple things, I used to use Tinkercad, pushing that through Blender and such.…
It depends entirely on how close the camera gets (kinda like VFX, I suppose), but assuming its AAA quality third person you might have 2-3 4K texture sets (*super ball-park guesstimate, I am not a character artist), with multiple layered tiling textures on top that are blended with mask textures which give you the super…
What I can never get whenever I see screenshots of AlexCatMasterSupreme's 4k monitor is how the hell he can click on the bottom bar icons they are just so small on a 4k display.
Updated the materials and tried rendering at 4k texture res. Wood grain sticks out pretty much at this resolution (my PC is too slow to work well at 4k, need more time to work on this).
Yeah that was for the poster before you, you got in before I finished typing. :poly124: 4K will start to make more sense when 4k TVs are common, at 1080P, yeah its overkill, unless the actual asset is quite large.
Only thing i noticed was that for your terran marine you have 4x 4k maps and 3 2kmaps Now that is ALOT, i wonder if you would see any difference between 2k maps and 4k maps in this case.
You got this with the core FX shader? That's really just Max' file handling, nothing I can do about it. Also, I'd really advise you not to use 4k by 4k or higher texture maps, nobody ever does that in production...
I got that with the panels. Do you think 1440p at the Asus is OK or should i get something in 4k? I like the high refresh rate and color specs, but a similat model in 32" 4k would be 300€ more.
Thanks! here is first pass on some skin detail, changed topology around shoulder, better render also question is it 4x 4K maps so I can have body, cloth on seperate 4k maps?
It can go up to 8k x 4k, but that resolution needs too much memory and patience to export from SD, so I just exported it as 4k x 2k And here are the SD and ue4 graphs respectively (too unorganized, I know)
