Working on a Child of Light piece (and something else if I can finish this one quickly!) I thought this game really lent itself to the use of stylizing and glow. This is going to be one of the battle scenes, there will be a companion and some monsters on the other rocks, but of course I had to start with Aurora. :) Still…
I think I mention in every one of your threads that you're a monster! Very different from the rest of your work, I enjoy it very very much. Something about the large circular vents surrounding the core is so awesome. Not sure what it is, but they're my favorite part. :) Well done!! More more more!!!
@Toku in fact you can probably just go with a really simple shader like a blinn, with showinviewport enabled. And a normal bump node inside bump [do not forget to invert your nmap in Y if required inside the normal bump node]. and you're good to go the Oni [monster of my profile] is a screengrab from viewport.
Yeah! I play in a weird way, too. I use the analog stick on my gamepad to move, and the mouse to aim/attack. My favourite part about the game is the monster behaviours. Once you learn them, even if it's hard, it's still possible to maintain the upper hand. The action this creates is what makes it fun for me.
Thanks alot for the tips nfrrtycmplx. Its just supposed to be a monster for a community made game, sort of the personification of an angry internet man. I did do the things with the paper, I also did lots of iterations on the model adjusting the brows, eyes and nose and bit of the mouth. Here's a conclusion, I dont think…
i use the line drawing as the base. usually always 3 point .. or 2 point perspective. if i use photos in the beginning its to get a nice palate with good values. i use em near the end for 3rd level detail. Your 3d is monster.. wish i could get that level. nice reel inspiring
Regarding seam placement, I would have the seam on the opposite side of the gun if this is going to be used as a first person model. You wouldn't want a big eye sore like that while you are blowing people, aliens, monsters, etc. away. Other than that, the model is looking pretty good. Can't wait to see it textured.
While my models aren't on the level of others here, I was able to use Substance Designer to create all of the maps for the Overwatch art test. It's that mix between stylized and realistic and designer/painter handled it without a problem. Oh and Chris Khuner (Crystal Monster) used Designer/Painter for his most recent…
Very inspiring 2d work! My favorites are your little sci-fi alien environments but your other work is awesome as well. I love how most of your characters have a lot of personality in their faces even as creepy monsters. Oh and those insectoid mechs look like they'd be a blast to model and texture.
I love the concept! It looks like it should be a monster in twilight princess! Do you plan on sculpting or doing old school textures only? I know its a wip but you seem to have quite a few wasted polys. Try to make each edge loop have some effect on the silhouette. I'll be watching this keep at it.
